1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the website, services, or member portal ("Services") of Peradeniya University Alumni Association Victoria Inc., trading as Peradeniya University Alumni Australia Victoria Chapter (PUAAViC), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

2. Description of Services

PUAAViC is an incorporated association that provides alumni networking and community services, including:

• Membership management and renewal;
• Event organisation and registration;
• Member directory and community features;
• Newsletters, announcements, and resources;
• Project initiatives and community support.

3. Eligibility

To use our Services and apply for membership you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age;
• Provide accurate, complete, and current information;
• Be an alumnus of the University of Peradeniya or an eligible family member (as determined by our Rules).

4. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Keeping your account credentials confidential and secure;
• All activities that occur under your account;
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access;
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date profile information.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations;
• Impersonate any person or entity;
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful material;
• Harass, abuse, or harm other members;
• Send unsolicited commercial communications (spam);
• Attempt unauthorised access to our systems;
• Use member contact details for commercial purposes without consent;
• Scrape or harvest data without authorisation;
• Post content that is defamatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful.

Breaches of these rules may result in content removal, account suspension, or membership termination.

6. Membership

Membership is governed by the official Rules of PUAAViC (available on request).

• Applications are subject to committee review and approval.
• Membership fees are non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances at the committee's discretion.
• We may suspend or terminate membership for serious breaches of these Terms, non-payment, or conduct detrimental to the association.
• Members may resign at any time by written notice to the committee.

7. Events

• Event registrations are subject to availability and capacity limits.
• We may cancel or change events with reasonable notice.
• Specific refund policies (if any) will be stated at the time of registration.
• Attendees must behave appropriately and comply with venue rules.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on our website and Services (logos, text, images, software, etc.) is owned by PUAAViC or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

9. User Content

By submitting content (such as profile information, event photos, or posts), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and distribute that content for the purposes of operating the association and its Services. You warrant that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.

10. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, and protection of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Please read it carefully.

11. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our Services are provided "as is" without any warranties. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure access.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss unless caused by our negligence or breach of consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the preceding 12 months (if any).

You agree to indemnify PUAAViC against any loss, claim, or expense arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Services, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or prominent website notice at least 14 days in advance. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
